TCCS, with about 300 staff members, provides exceptional shared services to 9,000 students, and almost 3,600 faculty and staff. TCCS staff work in both student-facing services as well as administrative and operational services. Our numerous departments are located throughout The Claremont Colleges campus in the beautiful city of Claremont, California.</p>
<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION:</strong></p>
<p>The Staff Psychologist provides mental health care in the form of psychotherapy (assessment, diagnosis and treatment through individuals, couples and group therapy), crisis intervention, training/outreach, and consultation to the students of the Claremont Colleges. These duties are performed within the framework of authorized policies and protocols providing mental health care to students at The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) &#8211; Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services</p>
<p>We seek a licensed psychologist or therapist with demonstrated experience serving diverse student populations, including Asian and Asian American students. The successful candidate will provide culturally responsive counseling, outreach, consultation, and programming addressing the unique mental health needs of students from a wide range of cultural, linguistic, and immigration backgrounds.</p>
<ul>
<li>Priority Deadline: The deadline for first consideration is August 3, 2026.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</strong></p>
<p>Clinical Responsibilities (Direct Client Care)</p>
<ul>
<li>Perform psychological assessment intakes for a student population.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Provide individual and couples short-term psychotherapy treatment to this college population.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Provide Group therapy/modules/workshops on different topics of interest to the Claremont College student population.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Provide On-Call crisis duties including being part of the MCAPS on-call rotation, conducting crisis assessments, and providing crisis appointments for the students at the Claremont Colleges.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Act as a liaison between MCAPS and designated campus community centers of the Claremont Colleges providing consultation, workshops, and drop-in hours as needed.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Carry a clinical caseload of up to 23-25 clients per week.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Provide students with referrals to therapists, psychiatrists, or other professionals in the community when appropriate.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Provide re-entry evaluations for students returning from psychological medical leave for appropriateness to return to campus.</li>
</ul>
<p>Clinical Responsibilities (Administrative Duties)</p>
<ul>
<li>Perform trainings/outreach/workshops to students, staff, faculty, student leaders, administrative officials of the Claremont Colleges in issues regarding psychological/emotional issues.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Participate in and perform outreach to the students/student groups of the Claremont Colleges.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Provide clinical supervision to the post-doctoral fellows of MCAPS when the program is active.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Act as a liaison between MCAPS and other entities of the Claremont Colleges as needed.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Consult with other MCAPS staff, professionals, students, administrators, parents, and college officials (with proper releases) regarding clinical issues/situations.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Compose client initial intake reports, progress notes, and termination reports.</li>
</ul>
<p>Administrative Responsibilities</p>
<ul>
<li>Attend weekly disposition meetings</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Attend bi-weekly staff meetings</li>
</ul>

<li>Attend bi-weekly supervision of supervision meetings</li>

<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p>

<p>Education/Training:</p>
<ul>
<li>LMFT/LCSW degree or doctoral degree (Ph.D./Psy.D.) in clinical or counseling psychology</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Licensed in the state of California</li>
</ul>
<p>Experience:</p>
<ul>
<li>2 years experience working in a College Counseling Center</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Experience and interest/specialty in providing psychotherapy, group therapy, outreach, and support to the Asian /Asian-American / Pacific Islander college community.</li>

<ul>
<li>Demonstrated experience and deep clinical understanding of the mental health needs, cultural nuances, and systemic challenges faced by Asian and Asian American populations.</li>

<li>Experience in providing clinical diagnosis and therapy</li>

<li>Experience in working clinically with college students or college-age clients and working with crisis situations including hospitalizations, suicidality, psychosis, Eating Disorders, academic management, working in a high-demand environment etc..</li>

<li>Experience in assessment, diagnosis, and implementation of interventions for depression, anxiety, alcohol/drugs abuse, and developmental concerns frequently faced by college-age students(18-25 years old).</li>

<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">The Psychologist provides expert psychological care for children, adolescents, and their families in an inpatient setting. This adolescent inpatient unit is one of a few nationwide that serves adolescents with acute psychiatric needs as well as those with substance use disorders requiring an ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) 3.7 Medically Monitored Intensive Inpatient Services level of care. Child psychologists working on this unit will have the opportunity to provide high-quality, specialized, and integrated care while working closely with other dedicated members of the treatment team. They will provide brief family therapy, either with individual families or in a multi-family group setting. They will also provide individual and group therapy. These modalities will be used to stabilize both psychiatric and substance use disorders. Psychological evaluations, including testing for autism, other neurodevelopmental disorders, and diagnostic clarification, may occasionally be needed. Psychologist functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team and provides clinical leadership and teaching for other staff members, while striving to create a positive experience for patients, families, and support staff. Psychologists also have the opportunity to teach and supervise doctoral interns who are a part of Denver Health’s APA-accredited doctoral internship program, as well as doctoral externs from programs in the area.</p>
<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []"><b>Essential Functions</b>:</p>

<p>Provide high quality clinical services to individuals referred to behavioral health, including short-term evidence-based behavioral health interventions and support services. (10%)</p>

<p>The successful candidate will provide clinical and outreach services to a diverse population of university students and also serve as the Coordinator of the Psychiatry Residency Rotation at UCS.</p>
<p>Working under the general supervision of the Director of the University Counseling Services (UCS), the Staff Psychologist collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement appropriate campus/community psycho-educational programs and interventions to increase student academic and personal success. Provides clinical assessment, short-term individual and couples counseling, group psychotherapy and structured psycho-educational groups, triage/urgent care services, and clinical case management. Provides general outreach programs and interventions to the campus community. <p>As the Coordinator of the Psychiatry Residency Rotation, conducts orientation and training with incoming residents. Coordinates responsibilities and schedules between UCS and the psychiatry residency program. Serves as ongoing contact with residency program director and supervisors. Serves as a member of the supervision team with residents and their supervisors. Provides support and information regarding CSUN students, University procedures, and UCS procedures. Facilitates communication between UCS staff and residents. Troubleshoots electronic health record system questions. Schedules residents for group and workshop offerings. Provides feedback to residency program regarding performance of residents. Assists with paperwork related to institutional contracts and ACGME residency program guidelines.</p>
<p>Participates in the department’s APA-accredited doctoral training program, including provision of supervision and training. Serves on department and university committees. Attends UCS staff meetings, case conferences, professional development activities, and retreats. Maintains ethical and timely documentation of all clinical work in electronic medical record keeping system. Performs other duties as assigned.</p>
<p>This position may include the provision of some telemental health services and/or remote work. The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which they are housed.</p>
<p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p>

<li>Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited institution.</li>
<li>Licensure in the State of California as a psychologist. If licensed within another state, must obtain licensure in California within one year.</li>

<p>POSITION OBJECTIVE</p>
<p>The Training Director will be responsible for the development, recruitment, management, and oversight of all Counseling Services training programs, including: psychology, social work, and clinical counseling. The training director ensures smooth operation of training program functions as well as clinical supervision necessary for each mental health subfield. Additionally, the training director is a member of the clinical staff and provides age specific, developmentally appropriate clinical counseling and mental health services to students and other members of the university community within an integrated healthcare and wellness model. The training director provides direct service to students; consultation on mental health and wellness issues to faculty, staff and students; and participates in wellness, health promotion and outreach efforts for the Case Western Reserve University, as assigned. <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p>
<ol>
<li>Provide direct counseling and mental health services to students presenting with a range of mental health and wellness needs within the established counseling model. Services include same day initial contact sessions, same day crisis management sessions, workshops, and ongoing individual and group counseling sessions. Maintain part-time trainee programs in social work and clinical counseling. <li>Develop and manage processes for trainee recruitment, interviews, and selection for: APA-accredited doctoral internship program, social work trainee positions, counseling trainee positions, and psychology practicum trainee positions, and any additional training positions, as assigned. <p>NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p>
<ol>
<li>Provide consultation services to university faculty, staff and students on mental health and wellness to help students access appropriate levels of care. Participate in wellness, health promotion and outreach programming to promote campus-wide mental health and wellness initiatives. (5%)</li>
<li>Participate in departmental committees and other university activities, as assigned (2.5%)</li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned. (2.5%)</li>

<p>CONTACTS</p>
<p>Department: Continuous contact with professional and support staff of the University Health and Counseling Services for scheduling, clinical consultation and collaborative work in an integrated model.</p>
<p>University: Frequent contact with university deans, faculty, staff and administrators to establish and coordinate support for students dealing with mental health and academic issues. Periodic contact throughout the university during public health support efforts.</p>
<p>External: Moderate contact with mental health training programs and training directors in the area. Moderate contact with care providers outside the university to assist in the coordination of care for students being treated in the community.</p>
<p>Students: Continuous contact with students to provide direct counseling and mental health services to students presenting with a range of mental health and wellness needs.</p>
<p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY</p>
<p>This position has no direct administrative supervisory responsibility. This position includes clinical supervision of selected, pre-professional graduate trainees and unlicensed doctoral level psychology staff as assigned by the Directors of Counseling or their designee.</p>
<p>QUALIFICATIONS</p>
<p>Experience: Minimum of 4 years professional experience (2 of which must be post-licensure) in mental health care is required. Experience providing clinical supervision required. Experience with adolescent and young adult populations, experience within a university setting, and/or experience with an APA accredited internship program is strongly preferred.</p>
<p>Education: Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology is required. Independent license (or immediately license-eligible) in the state of Ohio as a Psychologist is required.</p>
<p>REQUIRED SKILLS</p>
<ol>
<li>Demonstrated clinical skills: experience and ability to appropriately diagnose and treat a wide variety of clinical conditions and accurately assess risk of harm to self and/or others based on clinical evaluation and/or collateral report.</li>
<li>Demonstrated supervision and training skills: ability to provide developmentally appropriate clinical supervision, maintain ethical boundaries, and design and facilitate training seminars.</li>
<li>Demonstrated consultation skills: ability to work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical individuals and teams (both internal/external to the university) in order to appropriately assess the clinical and support needs of students and connect them to the appropriate level of care.</li>
<li>Ability to demonstrate concern for understanding and satisfying needs of customers, co-workers and others with economy, efficiency, flexibility, courtesy, good judgement and continuous measurable improvements.</li>
<li>Knowledge of and experience with electronic medical record systems and privacy requirements.</li>
<li>Adherence to federal and state laws and university protocols designed to protect the privacy rights of students.</li>
<li>Demonstrated history of successful support, education, and advocacy for all students, aligned with the values, mission, and messaging of the university, while adhering to the staff policy on conflict of commitment and interest.</li>
<li>Ability to meet consistent attendance and demonstrate dependable work habits.</li>
<li>Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, trainees and customers face to face.</li>
<li>Knowledge, experience and training in telehealth.</li>
</ol>
<p>WORKING CONDITIONS</p>
<p>Standard Health and Counseling offices in a university campus setting.</p>
<p>Full-time professionals are exempt from overtime and are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week around the university&#8217;s core hours of operation. University Health and Counseling Services clinical work, outreach and campus crisis/emergency response efforts may require University Health and Counseling Services staff to work evenings and weekends. This position may be eligible for hybrid work after successful completion of orientation period.</p>
<p>Staff may be required to adjust their clinical and administrative assignments, as needed, depending on departmental, divisional and university needs. This may involve flexing to cover other clinical roles (e.g., covering acute counseling care responsibilities, covering ongoing counseling responsibilities, alternating between roles, etc.) due to staff absence, changes in the model of care, or other reasons determined by the Assistant Vice President of University Health and Counseling Services or their designee.</p>
<p>Staff are expected to provide services on-site and in-person, with the understanding that there may be aspects of their role and responsibilities that could shift to virtual and/or via hybrid modalities, depending on university requirement, departmental need, public health guidance and/or at the discretion of the Assistant Vice President of University Health and Counseling Services or their designee.</p>
<p>PAY TRANSPARENCY</p>
<p>Case Western Reserve University is committed to providing a transparent estimate of the salary range available for this position at the time of its posting. The salary range is between $65,779 and $83,210, depending on qualifications, experience, department budgets, and industry data. </p>
