The Department of Behavioral Sciences in the College of Health Sciences at Midwestern University (MWU), Downers Grove campus, invites applications for a part-time (0.5 FTE), core faculty position in the APA-accredited Psy.D. Program.  Applicants should have earned a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program and be licensed or license-eligible as a clinical or counseling psychologist in the State of Illinois.

Preferred candidates will have interest or experience in teaching clinical courses focused on assessment and report writing, including projective techniques, lifespan development, biological and/or cognitive-affective bases of behavior, the history and systems of psychology and/or integrated healthcare. Faculty responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses in the curriculum, academic advising, and dissertation mentoring. Service responsibilities include participation in Program, College, and University committees and active involvement in the professional activities of state, regional, and national organizations. A record of prior teaching experience, scholarly productivity, and professional service will enhance the candidate’s application.  Rank is at the Assistant Professor level or commensurate with experience. Midwestern University, College of Health Sciences, invites applications for the part-time (.6 FTE) position of Assistant Professor within the APA accredited Clinical Psychology Program on the Glendale, AZ Campus. The Clinical Psychology Program adheres to a practitioner-scholar model of training and awards a Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.) to students who complete the program. The Program operates on a quarter system and students typically complete their training, including a pre-doctoral Internship, within four years. The Program also offers an optional Neuropsychology track and Health Psychology track for students interested in training in one of these major areas of study. Because Midwestern University offers degree opportunities in several graduate-level health care related areas, clinical students are afforded many opportunities to develop skills in integrated health and interdisciplinary collaboration.

To be eligible for this position, the candidate should be a graduate of an APA-accredited clinical psychology program (Psy.D. or Ph.D.). Candidates must be licensed as a psychologist, or be eligible to obtain a license, in the state of Arizona. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and have demonstrated relevant experience in graduate level teaching, clinical practice, and research.

The Assistant Professor is expected to teach courses in psychological testing/assessment in the general curriculum and contribute to the oversight and advisement (including dissertation mentorship) for students in the program’s neuropsychology concentration. There may also be opportunities to teach neuropsychology courses. Department faculty also periodically provide supervision coverage of our students at our Psychology Clinic at the university’s Therapy Institute. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Essential Job Functions:

• Manage an active clinical caseload from the initial session through graduation from care. 
• Conduct therapy sessions via video, telephone, or chat, providing real-time support in a tele-health environment. 
• Apply evidence-based therapeutic practices and tailored SMART goals tailored to individual needs.
• Practice culturally competent care to meet the needs of a diverse client base including but not limited to: first-time therapy seekers, BIPOC students, LGBTQ+ students, first-generation students, veterans, and athletes. 
• Adhere to the risk assessment and management process of Uwill, including assessing for risk during the initial session with a student and as needed thereafter. 
• Document all sessions and clinical interactions within time frame expectations.
• Respond to student messages in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

• Master’s degree in a relevant mental-health field.
• At least 2 years of telehealth therapy experience using a variety of clinical modalities.
• Independent clinical license allowing unsupervised practice (e.g., LPC, LMHC, LCSW, LICSW, LMFT, PsyD).
• Ability to provide therapy in English and at least one additional language.
  • High-priority languages include (but are not limited to):
    American Sign Language (ASL), Mandarin, Cantonese, Farsi, Korean, Tagalog, French, Russian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Thai, Arabic, Hindi, and other less-common or heritage languages.
• Current professional liability insurance.
• HIPAA-compliant private workspace suitable for telehealth sessions.
• Ability to provide sessions via Zoom on a computer or laptop running Mac OS 10.13+ or Windows 10+, with a camera, microphone, and internet speed of at least 10 Mbps.
