William James College announces an opening for a full-time Core Faculty position in the Doctoral Clinical Psychology Department beginning August 2022. Rank is commensurate with experience. Salary for this academic position is highly competitive. Position may also be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

Responsibilities: We are seeking a new core faculty member to fulfill administrative responsibilities in the role of Assistant Chair in the Clinical Psychology Department. This position is a hybrid faculty and administrative position, and involves the following responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with clinical department leadership to provide student supports and to increase individual student retention and academic success. 
  2. Serve as a consultant for faculty and the field education department around managing student-related academic challenges.
  3. Receive and evaluate notifications of student difficulties (i.e., Corrective Action Notices (CANs)), monitor the completion of CANs, and facilitate meetings with students and faculty to address concerns when necessary. 
  4. Hold meetings with students, faculty, and/or field education department staff to discuss plans for student success and to clarify policies and procedures, as needed.
  5. Evaluate student status in the program and make determinations of need for remediation.
  6. Report to the Associate Chair of the Clinical Department.
  7. Teach courses in the applicant’s area of expertise and/or generalist foundational courses in our APA-accredited Clinical Psychology PsyD Program, and conduct research supervision activities. 

Qualifications

  1. Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology, and completion of an APA-accredited internship.
  2. Three years of experience teaching and advising clinical psychology doctoral students.
  3. Strong knowledge of program requirements/curriculum, institutional policies and procedures, APA Ethics Code and relevant statutory regulations pertaining to the practice of psychology.
  4. Existing knowledge (or willingness to increase knowledge) of the APA Standards of Accreditation related to Profession Wide Competencies (PWC) and Discipline Specific Knowledge (DSK).
  5. Preferably be licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts and maintain some involvement in clinical practice or consultation. 
  6. Preferably have a demonstrated record of scholarly work defined broadly (e.g., community engagement, educational leadership, innovation, investigation and research).
  7. Successful applicants will also have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
