Job Description Summary

The Assistant Director/Training Director (AD/TD) is responsible for overseeing both the day to day operations of and strategic planning for all elements of the University Counseling Center (UCC) training program. The training program includes an APA-accredited psychology internship and master’s level counseling internship/doctoral practicum. The AD/TD is a member of the UCC Leadership Team and assists with leadership of the UCC and its offices both in collaboration with, and in the absence of the Director. The AD/TD also provides administrative and clinical supervision and consultation to UCC staff. The AD/TD provides culturally responsive short-term counseling/therapy and crisis services to students, and consultation and outreach to all members of the Wake Forest University community. The University Counseling Center (UCC) is focused on providing equitable and inclusive services to the campus community.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology from APA-accredited program and internship.
Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in the state of North Carolina within 6 months of hire
Minimum of 5 years of professional (post-graduate) experience as a psychologist providing counseling/psychotherapy.
Knowledge of clinical training program functioning.
Knowledge of a broad range of psychotherapy and counseling methods.
Experience providing clinical supervision to trainees and mental health professionals.
Knowledge of and ability to use crisis intervention skills.
Ability to use independent judgment and manage confidential information.
Ability to practice good consultation skills both within and outside of the University.
Ability to effectively facilitate workshops, training, and seminars.
Excellent communication skills, both (oral and written); strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to organize and manage projects.
Knowledge of relevant technology.
Ability to work in a leadership position with a high degree of autonomy, reliability, and ethical decision-making.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a college/university counseling center.
Previous experience in University Counseling Center leadership positions
Experience with managing a doctoral training program and related accreditation responsibilities.
