The Psychology Department at Rhodes College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Social Psychology to begin Fall of 2018. Rhodes College is especially interested in attracting candidates from historically underrepresented groups and/or those with demonstrated commitment to working with diverse and historically underrepresented populations. Preference will be given to candidates whose research focuses on diversity science, broadly defined, including prejudice, stereotyping, discrimination, social justice, and intergroup relationships. The successful candidate must demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching and scholarship at a liberal arts college and will be expected to maintain an active research program involving undergraduates. Research will be supported by start-up funds and lab space, and possibilities for additional research support include summer research funds and travel funds. Collaborative research and teaching opportunities exist with several interdisciplinary programs, including Africana Studies, Latin American Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Urban Studies, and Educational Studies. Teaching responsibilities will include five courses a year from the following: introductory psychology, research methods or statistics, social psychology, and upper-level research and seminar courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in Social Psychology by July 2018.
