The Department Counseling and Human Services at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY invites applications for ONE TENURE TRACK-Full-time Faculty position at the Associate Professor rank, to begin Fall 2023. Candidates are expected to bring enthusiasm and demonstrated commitment to teaching and to develop and maintain an active research and publication agenda.   The successful candidate must be eager and qualified to work with our diverse student body, and have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Faculty will perform teaching, research and advising duties in area(s) of expertise: share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to their campus.

QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate in Community Organizing, Community Psychology, Social Justice, Social Work, Human Services, or related fields. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to teach successfully, has a demonstrated record of scholarship or achievement, and will be able to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Forty-seven percent of John Jay students are first-generation college students. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum 5 of years’ experience in community organizing and/or teaching higher level (300 and 400 level) undergraduate courses from counseling, organizing, community justice, multicultural, and/or social justice perspectives. Candidates with experience at multiple levels of organizations, working in public health, educating for social change at the university and community level, and/or a background in policy and development are encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience within the range of $76,395 – $104,057.
