New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a non­-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor in Counseling Psychology to begin in September 2017. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Applied Psychology.

Position Description: The Clinical Assistant Professor will work with program faculty to ensure competencies for master’s students in Counseling for Mental Health & Wellness and School Counseling programs, and for doctoral students in Counseling Psychology. The candidate is expected to take a leadership role in guiding and providing supervision and in assisting the Counseling Psychology and Counseling Program directors with emerging training needs and issues, and in directing the educational experiences of the graduate students who train within the programs. Teaching responsibilities include clinical assessment and doctoral seminars in the program as well as other clinically focused courses. The successful candidate will teach courses both on campus and in our new online distance education program.
Responsibilities: Teach and advise undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students; conduct research; participate in faculty meetings, serve on committees, and provide other service to the University. The Clinical Assistant Professor is responsible for developing and coordinating the activities of the newly established department training center. This role entails establishing and pursuing both short­ and long­term goals for the training center, with the overall objective of ensuring the establishment and maintenance of excellent, culturally competent assessment, prevention, and intervention services to clients in the community. The role also includes furthering the training center mission of outreach and maintain relationships in the community we serve with a focus on low­ income, underserved populations.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA­ accredited program, completed internship in an APA­ accredited program, licensed or licensed­ eligible psychologist in NY.
