General Summary:
Antioch University Los Angeles seeks a proven academic leader to lead its innovative Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology (MAP) Department centered in Los Angeles. Antioch University. The Department and related academic programs from Antioch’s five campuses have recently been organized into a School of Counseling, Psychology and Therapy (CPT). The MAP Department is the largest academic unit within the new CPT School and also the entire Antioch University system with an enrollment of approximately 700 students. The Department Chair will serve as the academic leader during a period of exceptional growth emerging out of new programming opportunities and partnerships.
The Chair’s responsibilities center on the leadership and administration, academic vision and strategic direction of the department, its various elements (e.g. specializations, clinical training, etc.) and oversight of associated faculty, staff, student and other stakeholders. The Chair ensures academic quality, manages personnel and resource allocations, mentors and supervises faculty, and engages community and other constituencies to promote and enhance the department’s visibility and reputation. In addition, the Department Chair engages in the full range of faculty activities and responsibilities which may include the equivalent of up to three (3) quarter courses (9 credits) during the academic year.

Departmental Overview/Summary:
Antioch University Los Angeles offers a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology (MAP). Students may choose to specialize in: Addiction and Recovery, Psychological Trauma Studies, Spiritual and Depth Psychology, LGBT Affirmative Psychology, Professional Clinical Counseling, Child Studies, Applied Community Psychology, and General Practice Specialization. Students may also choose individualized programs. For students who eventually intend to pursue doctoral studies or non-clinical careers, the Los Angeles Department also offers the Master of Arts in Psychology Studies (MAPS).
The MAP curricula is infused with social justice as a foundational frame, while practical experience and self-reflection provide context to support the development of a well-rounded practitioner. The Department requires 90 quarter units for completion of the degree, to be taken over 8 full-time quarters of study, including three quarters of clinical training experience. The curriculum meets all educational requirements for students to qualify for application as Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Students may also choose to qualify as Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC).
Qualifications:
- A terminal degree (PhD, PsyD, etc.) from a regionally accredited institutions of higher learning within a discipline associated with the psychology program.
- A minimum of five years of experience in an academic leadership role at the Chair level or higher with demonstrated leadership experience and skills in budget planning, faculty evaluation and development, conflict resolution, coaching and mentoring, and leading through change; success in enrollment management and scheduling at a department/unit level; and experience in developing curriculum and overseeing programs offered in different delivery modalities.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience teaching graduate and professional students in traditional, hybrid, and online environments.
- Demonstrated record of providing intellectual leadership and academic vision with an appreciation for university research, teaching and community service.
- Demonstrated experience working within a university system and success in collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives and solve problems within a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to creating and supporting a diverse work environment for all stakeholders, including faculty, staff and students.
- Demonstrated commitment and success in hiring, supporting and mentoring diverse faculty and staff, developing system and processes to support a broad range of students (including BIPOC and first generation students), and integrating diverse perspectives and experiences into the curriculum strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of California BBS Regulations for Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors preferred.
- LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or Psychologist licensure or license-eligible with experience in mental health settings especially desirable.
