The Director of the Counseling Center manages and supervises the development, delivery and evaluation of mental health services provided to the students of the University of Maine. A commitment to high quality mental health services is imperative. These services include: direct counseling and psychotherapy; couples and group counseling; crisis management; post-vention in the case of death or suicide/suicide attempt of students or other campus emergency; prevention education and outreach services to students; training and consultation services for faculty, students, staff, parents and University administrators; and collaboration with Student Life leadership and other campus and UMS leaders. The Director provides direct oversight and management of: personnel, hiring and supervising including evaluation and remediation when needed; operations evaluation; policy formation and implementation; logistics; and strategic planning.
