The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking a full time Clinical Psychologist to serve as Lead Staff Psychologist in their Adult Medical Psychology Service.

 

The Medical Psychology Service provides psychological services to patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including chronic and life-threatening illnesses and injury, substance use related health problems, psychiatric vulnerabilities which interfere with medical recovery, and end of life concerns.

 

 

Job Description:

  • Provide clinical oversight of the service, supervision of interns and postdoctoral fellows, and leadership of a multidisciplinary Behavior Response Team (BRT). The BRT convenes to discuss the care of patients with complex psychosocial and behavioral presentations. The Lead Staff Psychologist will lead the team in consideration of trauma informed care and care coordination.
  • Apply a strong interest and background in adult clinical, medical and health psychology. In addition to leadership, the Lead Psychologist will provide clinical consultation to providers and staff inpatient medical-surgical units, hospital-based psychotherapy, and may provide limited outpatient psychological services requested by community and specialty clinic providers.
  • Serve as a professional resource for Staff Psychologists and colleagues across the University of Vermont Medical Center. In support of the Strategic mission to improve mental health care service delivery, the Lead Psychologist collaborates with staff and leaders in Psychological Services, others in the Department of Psychiatry, Nursing and Medical group leadership to ensure that psychological services are optimally designed to ensure high quality, patient- and family -centered care.
  • Provide administrative and programmatic oversight of training operations and service delivery in high need areas. The psychologist we seek will be an experienced provider of psychotherapy, clinical supervision, consultation and leadership. The lead Psychologist will also maintain an active clinical practice.

 

 

EDUCATION:

  • Psychologist Lead – PhD or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • Board Certification preferred though not required at this time.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 5 years post-doctoral clinical experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience required, 3-5 years strongly preferred.
  • Direct clinical experience in the areas of medical and health psychology with patients in medical settings strongly preferred.
  • Current Vermont Psychologist-Doctorate License required.
