Job Description Summary
Provide mental health services to the Bentley student population and be available to students and the Bentley community for mental health emergencies. Work closely with the Health Center and Wellness and Prevention to bring a mental health perspective to programs on campus. Essential Duties

  • Provide in-person and remote mental health services to students including individual and group therapy, psychiatric referrals and medication monitoring, assessment of suicide/homicide or other danger to the community, evaluations pertaining to hospitalization or withdrawal from school, advising families, as well as maintenance of legal medical records.
  • Practice multicultural competence/cultural humility with a strong understanding of the clinical application of intersectionality of identity and mental health.
  • Consult with outside providers (e.g., psychiatrists, hospitals, and other health providers) to insure adequate treatment and referral. Assist with the design of mental health programs and workshops for students with the goal of raising awareness, increasing health, and educating on critical mental health issues for college students.
  • Provide supervision to practicum students.
  • This is not an “on call” position, but the clinician may need to be available in the in the event of a critical incident on campus.
  • Serve as a resource for faculty, staff, parents and students who have questions about mental health issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a mental health related field (clinical or counseling psychology, social work, mental health counseling) from an accredited program.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience working with students who hold marginalized identities, with specific knowledge about issues pertaining LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC populations.
  • Licensed or license eligible as a mental health provider in Massachusetts. License is preferred or must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience providing short-term counseling and therapy.
  • Preference given to candidates with experience working with college-aged populations.

Work Environment

  • Typical office setting with extensive sitting, computer, phone and meetings.
  • Ability to travel around campus for work related events and duties.
  • Work from home one day a week.
  • Compressed work week in the summer (no work on Fridays)
  • The center will cover annual costs of malpractice insurance, licensing fees, and CE credits required for licensure.
