Staff Psychologist positions available at Student Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of California at Merced, the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the most ethnically diverse of the UC campuses. Position requires doctorate in psychology or counseling from an APA-accredited doctoral program and valid license as a psychologist in the state of California (or license-eligible in CA). Position involves conducting intakes and brief screenings, crisis assessment and intervention, individual counseling using a brief-therapy model, leading groups, consultation to campus constituents, and participating in outreach events. Requires advanced knowledge and skills in counseling practices and methods as well as developmental tasks and problems encountered by college students, especially first generation college students. Requires ability to work effectively with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Additionally, requires bility to work with complex clinical cases required, to establish case conceptualization, and treatment plans for clinical cases. Must be able to present oneself in an appropriately personable and professional manner to students, faculty and staff and to function as a valued team member.
