The School of International Service (SIS) at American University (AU) invites applications for two full-time, non-tenure track faculty appointment for AY 19-20. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field. The appointments are for one year, commencing on August 1, 2019, with the expectation that the appointment may be renewed for subsequent academic years subject to satisfactory performance and budgetary authorization.
The position is intended for a person who would teach six undergraduate and/or graduate courses per academic year. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service. Applicants should share the School’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Applicants should hold a PhD or the highest equivalent degree in a social science discipline, though experienced practitioners with equivalent (MA/MS and ten years of professional experience) will also be considered.
For one of the two positions, a core responsibility will be teaching Intercultural Communication in our undergraduate program. However, we are also interested in candidates who can teach in the following areas:
• Intercultural Communication
• International Development
• National and Global Security
• Research Design and Methods
