April 21, 2021

The Department of Psychological Science at the University of Mary Washington invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Psychology with a focus on developmental psychology beginning August 16, 2021. We seek applicants who have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate students. We welcome applications from those with substantial teaching experience, but this position is also very appropriate for those with less teaching experience who wish to develop their skills in this domain through a focused teaching position. Teaching responsibilities emphasize courses in developmental psychology, with a preference for candidates able to teach adolescent to emerging adult development and/or the psychology of aging. The department has a particular interest in candidates who could expand our offerings with a special topics seminar in multicultural and/cross-cultural psychology. Visiting professors may also teach service courses for the department (e.g., General Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods). The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Psychology by August 16, 2021.

To apply, please submit the following materials electronically to https://careers.umw.edu  (Position Number F00466): a letter of application, CV, statement of teaching interests (including the courses from our curriculum that you would be able to teach), any materials that show evidence of effective teaching (e.g., syllabi, sample assignments, sample exams, teaching evaluations, etc.), names and contact information for three references, and an unofficial graduate transcript.

Review of applications will begin on May 15, 2021 for candidates who have submitted all required materials. Review will continue until the position is filled. Send e-mail inquiries to the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Virginia Mackintosh at vmackint@umw.edu. For more information about our department see http://cas.umw.edu/psychology
