The Department of Psychology at Dickinson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Behavioral Neuroscience beginning Fall 2022 pending funding approval. Area of specialty is open, but we encourage applications from individuals whose interests lie in behavioral, cognitive, affective, and/or social neuroscience.  A state-of-the-art small animal vivarium and ample lab space are available to support the successful candidate’s program of research.

The successful candidate will teach psychology courses in the area of behavioral neuroscience: Introduction to Behavioral Neuroscience (titled Brain and Behavior), Research Methods in Behavioral Neuroscience, and an upper-level seminar in behavioral neuroscience; the focus of the latter two courses will lie in the candidate’s area of expertise.  The candidate will also teach, on a rotating basis with other psychology faculty, Design of Psychological Research (Research Methods) and a First Year Seminar.  Teaching load is five courses per year.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in psychology (or related field), focusing on behavioral neuroscience by the time of the appointment.  We expect a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts environment and the ability to involve undergraduates in research.  Our largest classes have a capacity of 35 students. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.
