The New School is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Counseling Services to work closely with the Director of Counseling to manage the administrative and clinical operations of Counseling Services.. We are seeking a candidate who is highly motivated and brings excellent clinical, supervisory, and organizational skills.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

● Assist in administrative oversight of Counseling Services 
● Assist in development and management of the doctoral training program in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Externship Training 
● Supervise psychology and social work interns and externs 
● Assist in teaching extern/intern seminar 
● Oversee student connection to specialized and longer term care in the community, and ongoing development of community resources 
● Facilitate weekly professional counseling staff meetings 
● Organize professional development opportunities for clinical staff through coordination of in-service and off-site training 
● Assist in data analysis, quality assurance, and surveys related to counseling services 
● Oversee with Director the Mental Health Advisory Group 
● Develop, maintain, and monitor relationships with relevant resources, both internal and external

● Raise awareness of mental health and promote use of Counseling Services across university 
● Provide direct services to students: crisis intervention, assessment, and short term individual and group counseling 
● Assist in annual strategic planning for Counseling Services through annual review of short- and long-term goals and objectives, and data analysis 
● Participate in University committees as appropriate 
● Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
 

● MSWLMHC/Doctoral level LMHC or PhD. in Social Work or PhD/PsyD in psychology 
● Current New York State licensure required 
● Minimum five years of clinical experience post degree 
● Clinical supervisory experience 
● Strong multicultural framework

Preferred Qualifications:
 

● Post-graduate experience in young adult or college health preferred 
● Post-graduate psychotherapy training preferred
