Forensic Services, a division of the Minnesota Department of Human Services located at the St. Peter Regional Treatment Facility, has a rare leadership opportunity within its Clinical Psychology department as the Assistant Director of Psychology.  

WHO WE ARE

Forensic Services consists of statewide programs that provide evaluation and treatment to individuals committed as Mentally Ill and Dangerous to the public, Mentally Ill, Developmental Disabilities, and/or Chemical Dependency. We also provide innovative and responsive behavioral care to people with complex needs and challenges; some of whom may present substantial safety risks.

As an integral part of Forensic Services, Psychology Department ensures that its work environment reflects diversity values of respect and inclusiveness across programs through its communication, staff development, policies and procedures. Provides leadership in the promotion of learning about multicultural issues and needs through the incorporation of diversity topics in all its training, didactics and seminars. As our populations of service are becoming increasingly diverse, energy and support for research and implementation of innovative practices that are effective for multicultural populations are critical vehicles for staff retention.

In this role, with support from a large community of psychologists, you will develop, plan and implement a system-wide strategic plan enhancing and ensuring quality centralized therapy services and ongoing successful administration of the nationally accredited psychology internship training program. This includes providing direction and oversight to Centralized Clinical Program Therapists who provide individual and group therapy across the Forensic Services campus; The Good Lives Day Treatment Team which provides campus-wide sex offender assessment and treatment; and Full-time Psychology Interns on issues pertaining to the internship training and provision of supervised centralized therapy services for the entire facility.

 

Qualifications include:

  • 3 years of clinical leadership/management experience in a large, multifaceted organization which includes managing programs, strategic planning and directing the work of staff; AND
  • Ph.D. or Psy. D. in clinical/counseling psychology; AND
  • Licensure as a Psychologist by the Minnesota Board of Psychology;
    • Licensure in another state and license eligible in MN will also qualify on a contingent basis; AND
  • Three years of post-licensure experience
    • As a Clinical and/or Administrative Supervisor; OR
    • As a licensed psychologist; OR
    • A combination of both
