The Psychology Department at Stonehill College invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Social Psychology or Multicultural Psychology, beginning July 2025. This person will join a department of eleven full-time faculty with a wide range of disciplinary expertise and a commitment to fostering diversity among faculty and students. The department also prides itself on supporting each other and a quality work-life balance for its faculty members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities include Social Psychology, as well as a course that students can take to meet the Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) requirement for the major, which currently includes Multicultural Psychology, Psychology of Stereotyping and Prejudice, and Psychology of Women and Gender. In addition, applicants can develop courses in their area of specialty and within the core DEI requirement. The opportunity to teach other core courses in the department will be determined by the applicant’s background and interest. The position will be a 3:3 teaching load and will include additional responsibilities of initiating and/ or maintaining a research program. The best applicants should be committed to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduates in research. The successful candidate will also have a strong commitment to diversity and issues of intersectionality in areas of teaching, research, and mentoring.
Education and Experience
We seek applicants who have completed a Ph.D. in social psychology or multicultural psychology, but priority will go to applicants with some specialization related to multiculturalism and diversity science. We are particularly interested in applicants whose research focuses on psychological dimensions of prejudice, discrimination, racial justice, and/ or racism-related disparities. Applicants may hold a Ph.D. in various areas of psychology, so long as they have an established line of research, with priority given to inquiries related to diversity, preferably with an intersectional focus. Experience mentoring and supporting students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds (first-generation, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, minority religion, etc.) is also preferred.
