The Department of Psychology at The College of Wooster seeks to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position, to begin Fall 2023. The Department welcomes applications from candidates with training in any area of specialization who can broaden and diversify the specializations of current faculty members. We are especially interested in candidates who can develop courses that engage students in discussions of the biological bases of human behavior, with particular emphasis on social and cultural aspects within Cognitive Psychology, broadly defined. Expertise in methodologies that broaden the epistemic diversity of the department, including qualitative methodologies, would also be welcome. At The College of Wooster, a two-semester teaching load is 5.5 courses. Within the Department of Psychology, this teaching load is usually fulfilled through two courses each semester, including a research component to one of these courses, and credited supervision of 5 senior undergraduate students in a 2-semester Independent Study (I.S.) research project (a graduation requirement for all students). Each of our faculty also contribute regularly to the College’s First-Year Seminar program, and courses can serve The College’s core curriculum, which includes general education requirements in Social Justice; Power, Privilege, Race and Ethnicity; and Global Engagement.
