The Department of Psychology at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track position at the rank of assistant teaching professor beginning August 2020. The initial appointment may be for up to three years, and is renewable dependent on program need and instructor performance. The candidate in this position must be able to teach a variety of large sections of psychology courses. The ability to teach introductory psychology is strongly preferred. In addition, the candidate should be able to teach undergraduate courses related to developmental, social, or cognitive psychology. Further, candidates should have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members. The successful candidate will demonstrate or have the potential to demonstrate excellence in both pedagogy and teaching. As with all faculty positions, there is an expectation to engage in service in the department, college, and university and to advise students.
Qualifications. The candidates must have a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field.
Job Specific Qualifications. The candidate must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize his/her effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
The successful candidate will –
- Teach three courses in the fall and spring semesters;
- Participate in curriculum maintenance, development, and assessment within the department;
- Engage in committee work and service activities in the department, college, and university..
