About CAPS
This is an especially exciting time to join our staff. In August 2017, MSU’s Counseling Center officially joined with the Psychiatry unit from our Student Health Service to become Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS). CAPS moved into a larger, newly renovated space on the third floor of our Student Health Services building, where our offices now overlook beautiful brick buildings and tall, mature trees. As part of our expansion, CAPS has been allocated additional resources to recruit and hire a number of new mental health clinicians, and we recently moved into a newly renovated satellite location in the MSU Union. Also, since June 1st 2018, all MSU students now have access to free, confidential, 24/7 online crisis and counseling services provided by licensed mental health professionals through Morneau Shepell. This service is specifically geared toward helping domestic and international college students, and is available in many languages. For more about our recent changes, we invite you to visit https://caps.msu.edu/

The counseling services unit within CAPS remains committed to maintaining our “university counseling center” identity and traditions, while also fully embracing the benefits of integration (for us and for students) with our campus health services. We continue to value our thriving training program, which includes an APA-accredited doctoral internship and a masters-level training program.
