UWM Academic Affairs is making a strategic investment in these positions, providing competitive salary supplements and start-up resources to create meaningful, measurable improvements in the well-being of Milwaukee’s residents and beyond.

The faculty in this cluster hire initiative will be housed in the following colleges at UWM:

• College of Community Engagement & Professions: Helen Bader School of Social Welfare and the School of Education, Department of Educational Psychology. The position in Educational Psychology is expected to be designated as an endowed chair.
• Joseph J. Zilber College of Public Health

Faculty hired through this cluster will contribute to:

• Advancing interdisciplinary research on health inequities and mental health issues.
• Leading community-engaged translational scholarship with practical application to social and health inequities in urban communities.
• Innovating and expanding educational programs related to health equity and mental health.

Job Summary
We seek accomplished educators, researchers, and scholars with expertise in health equity, mental health disparities, and/or social and structural determinants of health and a commitment to interdisciplinary, community-engaged research. Faculty hired through this search will join a collaborative research team dedicated to advancing health outcomes, reducing health inequities, and contributing to high-quality teaching and mentoring.

Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. in social work, public health, educational psychology, counseling psychology, or a related field.
• Strong record of research, scholarship, teaching, and service accomplishments comparable to the rank of a tenured associate or full professor at UWM.
• Proven record of securing external research funding, with a preference for federal funding, in areas that align with advancing healthy people and populations.
• Demonstrated experience fostering inclusive environments and supporting historically underrepresented students (e.g., first-generation, Pell-eligible).
• Willingness to collaborate within a cluster research group to address complex health equity and mental health challenges.

Preferred Qualifications
• Evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration in scholarship.
• Experience with community engaged scholarship and partnerships with local organizations.
• Research addressing critical gaps, including systemic health inequities.
• Expertise in social and structural determinants of health, health equity, and mental health disparities research.
• A critical understanding of systemic issues affecting urban populations, with experience using emancipatory approaches in research.

Target Salary Range: Final salary offer will be commensurate with experience.
