New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development is accepting applications for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology Masters’ Programs (Mental Health & Wellness and School Counseling, both residential and online programs). The position is for an Assistant Professor in Applied Psychology to commence 9/1/2021. This is a three-year non-tenure track appointment that has the possibility of unlimited contract renewals. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Steinhardt seeks a candidate who is deeply knowledgeable and experienced with masters’ level human service programs, especially Counseling Psychology and Online Programs. The candidate will be expected to teach, provide clinical supervision for students, and play a major role in the leadership and administration of these Counseling M.A. programs (mental health and school counseling). Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving higher education for underrepresented groups is essential. If desired, engagement with the APA-approved Counseling-Clinical Psychology PhD program and the program’s training clinic — the Center for Counseling and Community Wellbeing, is possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching and supervisory responsibilities are primarily in the M.A. programs. Administrative responsibilities will include administration and leadership that entails establishing and pursuing both short- and long-term goals for the masters’ programs and its faculty, working relationships with Steinhardt administration and the online vendor. Assistance in the facilitation of program orientations and other recruitment events are also part of the position. Exact job duties will be negotiated at hiring.

QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate degree in Counseling, School, or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program, completion of an internship in an APA-accredited program is required and New York State licensure or license eligible is desirable. Strong candidates for this position will have a background in evidence-based treatment, as well as teaching and supervising students at the graduate level.
