Position Description -.

The Counseling Center is a comprehensive psychological services center, providing evaluation, counseling, consultation, and referral to UIC students. The Counseling Center is the main provider of mental health services to students on campus, has a strong commitment to training through our APA-accredited internship as well as externship and postdoc positions. We offer individual, couples, and group therapy, psychiatric care, and psychoeducational workshops. Our services are confidential and available at no charge for currently enrolled students. We are also available to faculty and staff for consultation. The Center staff includes licensed psychologists and psychiatrists, doctoral interns and externs, postdoctoral psychology residents, and trained paraprofessionals. The UIC Counseling Center staff is committed to the highest standards of competency in meeting the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including differences of culture, race, ethnicity, national origin, class, gender identity, gender expression, ability, age, body size, immigrant status, and sexual orientation. The Center has been serving the University of Illinois at Chicago for more than 35 years, is part of the Division of Student Affairs, and is fully accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services, Inc.

Minimum Qualifications – A doctorate in counseling psychology, clinical psychology or a related field is required. A minimum of one year experience is required. Licensed or license eligible to practice psychology as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois.

Desired Qualifications – Applications from qualified individuals with experience working in collegiate settings and/or can otherwise add to the rich diversity of our clinical staff and help us meet the mental health needs of our multiculturally diverse student population are strongly encouraged. Position requires some evening hours and occasional weekend duties.
