The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Department of Psychology is conducting a search for a Director of Clinical Training (DCT) for our APA accredited Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology with the expectation of an appointment at the level of Associate Professor (tenure track) beginning in August 2023.

Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, a record of scholarship and teaching commensurate with appointment at the level of Associate Professor, and a demonstrated capacity for administrative service. The department is interested in candidates with a dedication to diversity, equity, inclusive excellence, and anti-racism in higher education who can contribute to our mission of promoting social justice and equity in clinical psychology training. Additional desirable characteristics include a strong potential to attract external funding, psychology license eligibility, and prior experience studying and/or working within an accredited clinical program.

The successful candidate will become a member of UMBC’s Ph.D. program in Human Services Psychology, which is grounded in the biopsychosocial model and includes integrative training tracks in Clinical Psychology, Behavioral Medicine, and Community Psychology. Many of our clinical faculty have additional affiliations with Behavioral Medicine and/or Community Psychology. The Clinical Psychology track follows the scientist-practitioner model, has been fully accredited by APA since 1990, and received 10 year re-accreditation in 2017. The DCT supports all aspects of clinical training, manages program accreditation, coordinates externship experiences, and works closely with the director of our in-house community-based training clinic. The department also offers a doctoral program in Applied Developmental Psychology, master’s programs in I/O Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, and Learning and Performance Technology, and several other degree and certificate programs (https://psychology.umbc.edu/).

UMBC is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral University with Very High Research Activity (R1) with an elective classification for Community Engagement. It is located in the Baltimore-Washington corridor near major medical schools, NIH, and other federal agencies that afford extensive opportunities for research collaboration. UMBC is a minority-serving institution dedicated to training underrepresented scholars, as exemplified by highly successful scholar programs at the undergraduate (e.g., https://meyerhoff.umbc.edu/), graduate (e.g., https://meyerhoffgrad.umbc.edu/), and postdoctoral levels (e.g., https://facultydiversity.umbc.edu/postdocs/).  UMBC is especially proud of the diversity of its student body and we seek to attract an equally diverse applicant pool for this position as part of our strong commitment to increasing faculty diversity (https://facultydiversity.umbc.edu).
