FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Psychology at HUNTER COLLEGE OF THE CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK (CUNY) in New York City invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Psychology at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.
Faculty members in the College of Liberal Arts are expected to maintain an active program of research, develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute service to the department, college, university, and profession that is appropriate for their rank. We expect that strong candidates will be appointed to the CUNY doctoral faculty in Health Psychology & Clinical Science, which permits teaching and mentoring of doctoral students.
Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of their research, evidence of research ability, commitment to high-quality classroom instruction and student mentoring, working with underrepresented and minoritized populations, and the strength of recommendations. A successful candidate’s dossier will demonstrate scholarly distinction, a record of publications, and teaching commitment.

QUALIFICATIONS
For Assistant or Associate:
The individual hired must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree and an active program of research that can attract undergraduate and graduate students. Postdoctoral research experience is a plus. A record of or the potential to obtain external funding is necessary.
We are seeking scholars specializing in the application of psychological theory and methods to understand health disparities and health inequities in Hispanic/Latino or non-Hispanic/Latino Black, Asian, or Native American populations. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research addresses the promotion of physical and mental health, psychological adjustment to physical illness, or the reduction of health disparities within these populations and scholars specializing in the application of psychological theory and methods to understand and advance health equity, recognizing the role of racism as a key driver of health inequities.
We are seeking candidates with training in the areas of health, clinical, community, social, or developmental psychology. Candidates with research interests that intersect with our current strengths in health psychology or clinical science will be given special consideration.
Vaccine Requirement:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
