The Counseling Center, a department in the Student Affairs Division, has an outstanding opportunity for a Psychologist. This individual will: Provide short-term individual, couple and group counseling to students on personal matters that may impede their academic and career success and about developmental issues associated with their life transitions and life purpose as well as crisis intervention, consultation and outreach. Offer referrals for students who need longer-term therapy or for issues beyond the scope of Counseling Center services offered at UW Bothell. Maintain client data and records in accordance with legal and professional standards. Provide supervision and training to master and doctoral level practicum students, interns, and post-doctorate residents. Provide consultation and guidance to faculty, staff, as well as parents when they have concerns about a student’s behavior or emotional well-being. Actively participate in new student affairs program, wellness activities and other related programs. Design, market and conduct non-credit workshops or courses on mental health-related topics (stress management, substance abuse, etc.) of relevance to the student body. Collaborate with faculty, staff and students to identify topics for workshops, seminars, and retreats related to skill development, self-discovery, life transitions, life purpose, and wellness. Market Counseling Services to the campus community. Stay abreast of legal and practical issues related to the counseling field. Serve and participate on Student Affairs or University of Washington Bothell committees as requested. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology.

Licensure as a psychologist in the state of Washington, within 6 months of start date. • At least one year of relevant counseling experience with young adults and college students. • Experience providing short term outpatient counseling, clinical interviews, crisis assessment and intervention.  Experience in designing and delivering effective psycho-educational workshops, outreach, and community intervention. • Experience supervising Master’s or Doctoral level counseling practicum students or interns. • Oral and written communication skills commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position. • Demonstrated experience in the accurate interpretation and application of professional standards and all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to the scope of responsibilities and duties. • Basic computer literacy. • Ability to work with a diverse constituency.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED:

Counseling experience working with diverse populations (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, first generation, undocumented, international, and/or immigrants) in a higher educational setting. Experience providing group counseling.
