The Department of Corrections Health Services Division is seeking highly motivated and qualified individual(s) for the position(s) of Psychology Associate. We have opportunities available at several facilities throughout Washington State. These are full-time positions.

The Psychology Associate serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. In this role you will provide diagnostic assessments, mental health screening, clinical examinations, gather data, and summarize information.

  • Initiate appropriate referrals and consult other health care staff.
  • Develop therapeutic treatment plans.
  • Performs review and summary of information from the patients’ central file.
  • Treatment formats consist of 1:1’s, group therapies, crisis assessment, and crisis intervention and management.

These services improve the safe and orderly operations of the prison itself, address underlying mental health issues impacting a patient’s risk of recidivism and help prepare individuals to reintegrate into the community upon their release.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Psychology from an accredited school or department of Psychology who’s accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent, AND one year supervised clinical work experience providing direct psychological services in a Mental Health Institution/Hospital.

OR

Doctoral OR Master’s level degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Behavioral Sciences, Mental Health Counseling, or Social Work from an accredited graduate school who’s accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent, AND two years’ supervised work experience providing direct psychological services in a mental health facility. 

Additionally: You must obtain status as an Agency Affiliated Counselor through the Washington Department of Health or possess a Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Social Worker license from the State of Washington.
