Staff Clinical Psychologist
MIT Medical seeks a staff clinical psychologist to provide a range of services to meet the psychological and developmental needs of MIT students and an array of brief clinical consultation services to faculty, staff, and dependents.
Responsibilities include providing psychological evaluations, crisis intervention, individual/group psychotherapy, and referrals; training professional/paraprofessional university staff; faculty and staff consultations; and outreach/involvement in campus activities that integrate mental health and counseling services into the Institute’s community.
- Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-approved program
- Completion of APA-approved clinical internship or its equivalent
- Massachusetts’ licensure or license eligibility
- Two years’ supervised clinical internship/fellowship
- Advanced-level understanding of the full range of developmental and mental health challenges affecting late adolescents and young adults
- Mastery of multiple models of brief integrative and psychodynamic psychotherapies and evidence-based mental health care
- Experience working with severely troubled patients and/or on a psychiatric inpatient unit or functional equivalent
- Demonstrated excellence managing psychological emergencies
- Evidence of effective collaborations with diverse groups of psychologists/social workers/psychiatrists/stakeholders, providing culturally-informed mental health care, and attunement to the manifestations of psychological problems across different cultural backgrounds/identity configurations/genders
- Knowledge of Massachusetts’s psychology licensure standards, federal healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA), and relevant accreditation standards (e.g., AAAHC)
- Doctorate in public health, medicine, law, and/or behavioral and neurosciences
- Board certification in psychology (e.g., ABPP)
- Experience working in a university mental health service or comparable healthcare system
- Evidence of professional contributions (e.g., presentations, publications, etc.)
- Experience writing and securing grant-related funding
- Expertise in and commitment to working with an ethnoculturally diverse population
- Skill engaging with college-age populations, international students, parents, faculty, and college administrators
