The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences (liberalarts.tamu.edu/psychology/) at Texas A&M University is recruiting for a tenure-track assistant professor or a tenured associate professor for a full-time, nine-month appointment, with an anticipated start date of Fall, 2020. We are interested in a scholar conducting research in any area of psychology and whose research interests and strengths will build on and enhance the quantitative and computational strengths of the Department. The candidate will need to contribute to one or more existing doctoral training programs (behavioral and cellular neuroscience, clinical psychology, cognition and cognitive neuroscience, industrial/organizational psychology, or social and personality psychology). We hope to recruit a scientist to complement a world-class core of researchers, many of whom participate in cross-cutting research concentrations in affective science, diversity science, and personality processes. The Department is interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community, as well as the educational needs of the population of Texas and the global community. The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is a community of scholars committed to generating scientific discoveries in the discipline, providing rigorous undergraduate and graduate education, and engaging in outreach about psychology and the application of psychological science. We offer doctoral programs in clinical psychology, cognition and cognitive neuroscience, social and personality psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, and behavioral and cellular neuroscience, and a master program in industrial/organization psychology. We currently have 48 full-time faculty, over 150 graduate students, and almost 1,700 undergraduate majors. Our research laboratories are housed in several new or renovated buildings. We maintain collaborations with multiple local agencies, including the Texas Transportation Institute, the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center, Texas A&M Institute for Preclinical Studies, the Texas A&M Institute for Technology-Infused Learning, and the Texas A&M Institute for Neuroscience. Texas A&M University is a land, sea, and space grant institution that holds the distinction of classification as an R1 Doctoral University (Highest Research Activity), and faculty benefit from the resources and support associated with this designation.

A PhD in Psychology or closely related field is required. We will consider candidates in all areas of psychology. At the assistant professor level, preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated potential for publishing high quality research in leading journals and grant-supported research. At the associate and full professor level, preference will be given to candidates with established high-quality research records and grant-supported programs, with an additional emphasis on research impact.
