Position Summary:  The Psychology Department at Gettysburg College invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2023 – one in Neuroscience (Behavioral Neuroscience or similar) and one in Clinical or Counseling Psychology

Candidates will contribute courses to our rigorous undergraduate psychology curriculum and maintain productive research programs that can engage undergraduate research students.  The teaching load for each position will be five courses per year, where either a lecture or laboratory section is considered to be one course.  Teaching responsibilities will include 200-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialization, an advanced laboratory course in the candidate’s research area, and may include introductory psychology or research methods.  Candidates will be expected to serve as academic advisors and participate in the governance of the department and college. 

Qualifications:  We seek colleagues who have a genuine interest in teaching, research, and advising/mentoring undergraduate students.  Candidates should have a doctorate in psychology or closely related fields;  ABD will be considered if the degree will be completed prior to the start date. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to mentoring and educating a broad range of undergraduate students but particularly those who are traditionally underrepresented in the sciences.  Candidates are expected to become high quality teachers and productive researchers, and Gettysburg College provides support through start-up funds, departmental and external faculty mentorship, department-specific tenure and promotion guidelines, internal professional development funding, and family-friendly policies.  Each position has a dedicated multi-room laboratory space including a behavioral neuroscience and animal care suite.
